Responsibility

• Working alongside the business and operations team to develop a full understanding of m.Paani’s business model and objectives, including additional analytics to optimize our program
• Developing effective methodology for, and execute, data collection in a technologically constrained environment – spending time in pilot communities, with key stakeholders, and corporate partner(s)
• Working with m.Paani’s tech team to design and develop database structures as well as a back-end learning engine for data analytics, data mining, and generating sophisticated insights towards the goal of gaining a comprehensive understanding of our users and communities to realize and maximize our impact
• Carrying out statistical and mathematical modelling to derive meaningful insights that inform product/service design and overall business model
• Working with m.Paani’s tech team in developing front-end data analysis tools for internal and external reporting, including data visualization, dashboard creation, report generation (standardized and ad hoc)
• Using your keen intellect to identify key trends and actionable insights
• Developing data strategy and related technology decisions
• Support the development of m.Paani’s business by:
• Working with the business team to understand and analyse business performance across key areas and inform business strategy
• Support the business team in preparing externally and internally facing materials based on analytics

Qualification and Skills Required

• Passion for telling stories with data and excited about using the power of data to positively impact underserved communities
• B.S. or Masters in a field with a quantitative focus from a reputed university
• High level of experience with Microsoft Excel
• Not intimidated by large / diverse / incomplete data sets, and able to think creatively about data collection in a technologically constrained environment
• Driven to discover unexpected patterns and insights by linking or integrating multiple systems and data sets
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills (English)
• Thrives in the intensity, chaos and passion of start-ups, and wants to work with a fun-loving team who truly enjoy working together to realize a shared dream
• Team player who is takes ownership of work, is detail and deadline oriented, with a strong work ethic
• Extremely curious thinker who is excited by the unknown and asks the right (often surprising) questions
• Keen interest in behavioral sciences, design thinking, and human-centred design
• Experience designing and programming databases, and performing complex statistical analysis and predictive modeling, to derive meaningful insights and actionable conclusions
• Experience with tools such as Hadoop, ELKI, R
• Experience with Python libraries such as Pandas, NumPy, SciPy, Scikit-Learn
• Experience working in a startup and/or in the social impact space
• Experience working with a team to develop a new product or service
• International education/work experience, with experience living and/or working in India
• Familiarity with Indian data governance laws
• Proficiency in Hindi and/or Marathi
