The Big Data/Analytics Technical Architect is responsible for understanding emerging and evolving end user usage models and requirements in Big Data and Analytics, documenting those usage models and business, technical and user requirements and designing a Big Data / Analytics technical architecture to meet those requirements and specifying an implementation HW and SW solution stack. This individual will lead the design and implementation of our next generation of best in class Business Data Lake solution architecture. As a dynamic and talented Big Data architect, you will have proven hands on experience leading architectural design of large scale, high availability Big Data solution. You’ll understand the technical opportunities and limitations of the various technologies at your disposal and will be able to specify the tailored Big Data Ecosystem for the recommended solutions. In addition, you’ll have an innate understanding of how to provision, monitor, support, evolve, and evangelize the Big Data technology stack and will facilitate executive interaction with members of Senior IT Leadership Responsibilities
Qualification and Skills Required
- Masters degree or equivalent experience
- Experience in architecting and implementing end-to-end Data Warehouse / BI solutions
- In-depth knowledge of EDW logical & physical data modeling and SQL
- Must have hands-on knowledge of MPP data store (Greenplum preferred)
- Must have 1+ years Hadoop-related architecture experience
- Must have 1+ years architecting Big Data hardware/software deployments
- Hands on knowledge of Unix/Linux, Ruby, Python, Perl or other Scripting languages.
- Experience in designing solutions for multiple large data warehouses with a good understanding of cluster and parallel architecture
- Programming languages – Java/J2EE, Linux, Python, Hadoop, Hive, HBase, Pig, MapReduce and other Hadoop eco-system components, R on Hadoop, Mahout
- Must have exposure to developing solutions using continuous integration/Agile methodologies
- Ability to understand what is required to actively monitor and respond to system issues
- Self-starter with a passion for new technologies.
- Must have Experience in a technical leadership role
- Hands-on experience with “production alizing” Hadoop applications (e.g. administration, configuration management, monitoring, debugging, and performance tuning) preferred
- Knowledge of cloud computing infrastructure (e.g. Amazon Web Services EC2, Elastic MapReduce) and considerations for scalable, distributed systems is preferred
- Technical Architect certifications, Big Data related certifications
- Experience with the following software desired:
- ER/Studio Diagramming Tool
- Control-M or other similar Job Scheduling Tool
- Exposure to Business Intelligence & Analytics tools (Tableau, SAS, R)
- Exposure to ETL Tools (Informatica)
- Application Development experience preferred
- No-SQL Database experience a plus
