SELF-DRIVING ENTERPRISES



Kirk will deliver a talk called the Self Driving Organisation. The self-driving organization is like the self driving car – similar in functionality. You take input signals and data to make decisions, so it takes descriptive, predictive,
prescriptive and cognitive analytics. So Kirk uses the metaphor or an analogy to the self-driving car and relates it to business organizations. How organizations today using Machine Learning and Data Science to do more automation, to do more process or product automation or people interaction automation. While going through this talk he will address cybersecurity, healthcare, digital marketing and a variety of fields and also a lot of different industries where predictive or cognitive is becoming important.

 

The talk always circulates or revolves around the context of you as a business or an individual receiving input data, testing hypotheses and taking decisions based on those signals. He would be covering examples of disaster response, digital marketing, agriculture, healthcare and medicine, customer journeys, banking , money laundering. etc. Location is also important while driving a car. That way, relating it to a complex market while keeping
the self driving car in the picture.

 

ABOUT SPEAKER

 

 

Dr. Kirk Borne is the Principal Data Scientist and Executive Advisor at Booz Allen Hamilton (since 2015).

He previously spent 12 years as Professor of Astrophysics and Computational Science at George Mason University where he taught and advised students in the Data Science degree programs. Before that, he worked 18 years supporting NASA projects in various roles, including Data Archive Project Scientist for the Hubble Space Telescope. He has a PhD in Astronomy from Caltech and a BS in Physics from LSU.

 

He has been consultant and adviser to numerous organizations, focusing on the use of data for discovery, decision support, innovation, and value creation across many different domains and industries.

 

He is an active contributor on social media, where he has been named consistently among the top worldwide influencers in big data and data science since 2013.
