Empower Energy is a social enterprise serving customers in India without access to many aspects of the modern economy, most especially energy. As a social enterprise, Empower aims to generate both a financial and a social return, sustainably over the long term. Its business model, therefore, incorporates both traditional business metrics as well as social impact. Our vision is that we will have a wide-reaching network of Solar ATMs across rural and remote India meeting the energy needs of our customers. However, we do not see ourselves as simply providing value through lighting and charging. Our franchisees, who will have developed trust with our end customers will be relaying further needs of our customers which we will then distribute using our ATMs and operations managers. James is the Chief Data and Impact Officer at Empower Energy. He holds MBA & MSc. degrees from the University of Oxford (Pershing Square Scholar). James has previously worked at the UN for 6 years on strategic planning and impact evaluation of multi-million-dollar technical assistance programmes across 40 countries. He is fluent in four languages.
Ronit is the Chief Executive Officer at Empower Energy. He holds BA Economics & Management degrees from the University of Oxford (Moritz Heyman Scholar & Future Global Leaders Fellow). Ronit has been the Founder & MD of YE company, winning Young Entrepreneur of the Year at age 16. He has extensive work experience in strategy and finance including at Rothschild, Bank of England, Mercer & IBM. He is fluent in Hindi & Punjabi.
