Sebastian is a Staff Research Engineer at Lightning AI, where his work converges at the intersection of AI research, software development, and large language models (LLMs). Formerly an Assistant Professor of Statistics at the University of Wisconsin-Madison on a tenure track from 2018 to 2025, Sebastian made the difficult decision to resign in 2023 to dedicate himself entirely to his role at Lightning AI, a journey he embarked upon in January 2022.
