About the Speaker

Kiran is the Partner-level General Manager at Microsoft. He leads teams of ML Engineers, ML Scientists and ML Researchers, as the head of DSaaS (Data Sciences as a Service) in Microsoft Cloud Data Sciences in Cloud + AI. He has built out a high-impact and high-innovation group at Microsoft. His teams contribute significantly to the MLOps v3 platform built on top of Azure ML and also to the MLaaS platform, productising Machine Learning Services as products for a variety of customer use cases.

Prior to Microsoft, Kiran held a WW Leadership role at VMware as the Senior Director of the Data Sciences and Advanced Analytics Center of Excellence, with a team spanning across Bangalore, Sofia (Bulgaria) and Palo Alto (USA). He has setup teams from scratch and is equally comfortable as a hands-on leader and as an executive Leader presenting to the C-suite. He has a track record of significant impact driving end-end ML projects across VMware, Dell, Flipkart and Amazon.

Kiran has 30+ filed/granted US patents. He is a Kaggle competitions grandmaster (one of ~100 WW) and had a highest WW rank of 7. He is a prize winner in KDD Data Mining Cup. He is recipient of CTO award at VMware and Innovator of the year award from Michael Dell in person.

A computer science engineer, Kiran has a Ph.D. from IIM Lucknow and a MBA from IIM Kozhikode. He also has a Masters in Financial Engineering from WQU that he pursued out of his hobby of leveraging ML for Trading
